nowerdays most pci-e soundcards does not have a wavetable onboard, therefor you have to work with software midi synth.
This a great alternative to munt and very lighweigth.

Use loopmidi to create a midi output device. By clicking on plus bottom left.

Download the popular Yamaha S-YXG50 Portable VSTi v1.0.0 software midi synth with integrated 4MB wavetable (VSTi plugin)
To load it standalone (without using steinberg software) use SAVIHost 64 bit

rename the savihost.exe exactly to the name of the vst plugin dll name:
in this case from syxg50.exe the dll must stay. Put it to the folder where dll exists and execute.
link by use in menu devices > midi to output loopMIDI Port

i like to have the fluid-soundfont-gs in it. please notice virtualmidisynth which uses standard midi out, you can load sf2 into it
